The Hartwell Golf Club, Inc. has an active club for both women and men.
LGA:
The Ladies Golf Association (LGA) recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.
In the summer of 1974 Harvey Brock, the club Pro/Manager at the time, began free lessons for the lady members in an effort to encourage more ladies to participate in club activities. He called the group Brock's Flock.
The LGA began with 33 charter members. Many of the charter members continue to be active in the club.
In the past thirty years the LGA has contributed greatly to the success of the
Hartwell golf Club, Inc. The LGA has been responsible for numerous improvements to the Clubhouse, course landscaping and of course many on-going social events.
Over the years the "Wingdings" have continued to be a favorite golf and social event for members. On the second and fourth Thursday of each month (March through October) the LGA hosts a mixed couples 9 hole Lauderdale, which are called Wingdings. The Wingdings include a reception and catered dinner following golf. Prizes are also awarded.
The Hartwell Golf Club, Inc. LGA holds annual club tournaments including Ladies Member Handicap Tournament, Ladies Club Championship Tournament and Members Guys and Dolls Tournament. As a member of the Northeast Georgia Women's Golf Association the LGA hosts a play day tournament once each year.
MGA:
The Mens Golf Association (MGA) was formed in the summer of 2004. Plans are under way to schedule monthly mens tournaments and an annual Member Club Handicap Championship.
